RPSUD workshops have gained recognition and attention of scientists working on dryland biodiversity in the entire region. The demand for participation has reached all time high, with many applications being received.

(i) Fourth RPSUD workshop held at Lake Bogoria, Kenya. 1st to 3rd October, 2003 Theme, Sustainable Biodiversity Management For Reduced Community Vulnerability to Drought. Attended by 38 participants. ISBN 9966- 955-60-7. 28 papers and proceedings produced.

(iii) Sixth RPSUD workshop held at Hotel Impala Arusha, Tanzania. 26th to 30th June, 2006. Theme, Dryland Ecosystems: challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Natural Resources Management. Attended by 54 participants, 37 papers presented, and proceedings produced. ISBN 9987-9034-2-8

(iv) 7th Regional RPSUD workshop Was held at Ayu International Hotel , Nazareth, Ethiopia from 14th to 18th July, 2008. The workshop addressed major issues concerning the dryland biodiversity research, challenges and opportunities for SNRM and aimed to enhance awareness about the state of dryland biodiversity in eastern Africa. The Key note speaker provided an ice-breaker by addressing “The changing Climate: Management of Dryland Ecosystems for Sustainable Utilization; lessons from global and African experiences.
